To me it's Jesper Fast.'
3 years at $2M/per would have been an amazing deal for the Pens. |

Why does RW always assume every free agent wants to play in Pittsburgh? I’ll blame JR for bad trades, but blaming him for not signing free agents is a little ridiculous. |

He's not claiming that. He's asking us who we wish the Pens could have signed and believes the Pens could have put out a competitive OFFER. An offer implies something you can reject.

Ryan Wilson: Who is the player that got away this offseason for your team
Who is the player that got away this offseason for your team - Ryan_Wilson
Tyson Barrie, Ryan Murray, or Eric Gustafsson. All 3 are great puck moving offensive D that would have bolstered this D. Getting rid of Johnson was great, and adding Matheson was an upgrade. I just don't see too much mobility or speed on the back end beyond Letang. |

Dumo is a fantastic skater...Petts and Marino are no slouches either. Matheson's major positive is his skating ability. |

Agree on these, Fast and I'd still like Granlund...he's still out there not signed.

I think the best contract that was handed out to a forward this offseason was Evgenii Dadonov. Craig Smith and Toffoli are right there after him as far as impact guys for a top 6. Fast is more of a bit piece but also got a very good contract. Would have been over the moon with any of those signings. |

Smith or Fast. Toffoli wasn't a realistic target for our cap space, just a chance to complain about management for not preparing for a pandemic to suppress salaries. |

Jack Johnson...Sid's BFF.
wow...Flyers really missed the boat...too bad the Rangers snapped him up.
JJ is awesome!!! |

Matt Niskanen. By no means a star but a very solid player for whom there was no in house or external replacement available without suffering consequences. |

Well the point is a snowball of bad moves that left us in the cap situation we are now where we couldn't take advantage of a buyer's market.
Regardless, if we don't trade for Kapanen we have space to go after these guys too, so even with the bad moves factored in we still could have been in a position to make plays. I'd rather have Dadonov, Toffoli, or Craig Smith off free agency than Kapanen for what we traded, but obviously the advantage of the trade is that you can just go get your guy if you can convince one other person to give him to you. With free agents, they may just want to go elsewhere and you can't control that. If we didn't trade for Kapanen, we could have no one right now. |

James Tanner
Ek made a poor signing when he gave Ryan Wilson a deal that is way too long and unfortunately apparently included a NMC
Jimmy Tanner (or anyone really) would be a massive upgrade |

What happened to you guys' super deep defensive prospect pool my Flyers friends used to talk about? Niskanen has been pretty underrated for so long, but I feel like that script flipped the last two or so seasons and he's been an overpaid 5D who's out of his depth receiving top deployment now. I would think that with Provorov, Sanheim, Ghost, and Hagg Niskanen would be pretty replaceable and it would just be a question of filling out depth players for bargains. Or did some of those guys bust? |

It's not who the Penguins didn't sign, but it's who they did sign. Cody Cecei will be a disaster. His contact could have been given to a forward like Dominik Kahun or even bringing back Dominik Simon. Oh well. |

Philly has potentially three of the four worst contracts in the league, with JVR, Hayes, and Voracek eating up something like $23M. The fourth obviously being Josh Anderson
It’s this bush league cap management that will sink them, and keep them irrelevant for many more years to come

Some of you ppl are illiterate and see nothing but your own perceived thoughts about RW in his writings. You are basically wannabes of his, droning on about him, like he does JJ. At least he did it first though. |

I love me some Bobby Ryan. I'm a sens fan. But in no way does he help the pens compete. He's a guy who I hope reinvents himself as a net front presense and a heavy forechecker who can finish. But his head hasn't been in the game for a few years. I'm glad he's recovering.
He can look like a worldbeater some games. If you make it to the playoffs I think he'd be amazing for you. I just don't see him helping you get there. And I hate to say it. |

That was a few years ago. You’re lookin at some right now. Others are still kids.
Morin was the one bust. His career is just about shot due to injury. Dunno if that’s a bust or just bad luck. Kid can’t stay healthy.
Myers looks to be on Provy’s right side on the 1st pairing. Provy himself is still like 23.
Sanheim is their 2 LHD
York is still like a teen. They took him a little more than a year ago. Nice season.
Zamula will come up likely this year at some point. He’s been getting a fair amount of attention. Another un-drafted kid like Myers who is moving his way up the prospect chart.
Hagg was never more than an afterthought compared to the others. A bottom pairing guy.
It’s still pretty decent, but those were the guys. |

Maybe Dadonov, but honestly I'm pretty content with the moves we made. |

Most of the good ones are lefties. They can go Provorov, Sanheim, and Ghost on the left. But on the right it's Myers, Braun, and Gustafsson replacing Niskanen. Myers is the only one who should be top 4. |
